A very fine and rare 18k yellow gold manual-winding wristwatch ref.1463.
With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of this watch with breguet numerals in 1956 and its subsequent sale on July 19th, 1957.
The present example boasts an interesting provenance. The engraving on the back of the watch reads “R.B.P, JAN 1 – MAR 25, 1959, N.A.R.” This inscription reflects the fact that the watch was a gift by the recently elected Governor of the State of New York, Nelson A. Rockefeller, to the present owner (initials R.B.P). The gift was in appreciation for the present owner’s valued service as Counsel to the Governor. The stated dates were those of the opening and closing of the first session of the New York State Legislature during the Rockefeller Governorship.
