ref.2570/1
Yellow, Antimagnetic

An extremely fine and rare 18k yellow gold manual-winding "antimagnetic" wristwatch ref.2570 made in 1957.
The 2570 was offered with three different dial layouts - baton registers or, as with the current watch, an 'Explorer' style dial with Arabic numeral quarters and with or without printed "AMAGNETIC" signature. The latter design was particularly popular at the time and remains so with collectors today. Patek offered a further modification to the 2570/1 by partially sinking the crown into the case.
Tool watches, a purpose specific watch, are very unusual for Patek Philippe even to this day and as such the Amagnetic is an iconic element of their history. Added to this the collaboration with Gübelin, this lot becomes even more unusual and rare to come by.
